It can be caused by poor installation, wear and tear, or weather conditions. Raveling can also be caused by vehicles driving over the same spot repeatedly, causing the asphalt to break down.

Fading or Discoloration

Another sign that it may be time for a new driveway is if your current driveway is starting to fade or discolor. This can be the result of several factors, including exposure to the sun or chemicals. If you notice that your driveway is no longer the rich black color it once was, sealcoating may restore your driveway’s surface, or it may be time for a replacement.
